What it does
NETICS gives developers several ways in. The public REST API at https://business.neticsai.com/api/public/v1 lets your own systems ask NETICS questions and read and write customers, orders, bookings, products and blog posts. Signed webhooks tell your systems the moment something happens in NETICS. The netics-agent web component puts your NETICS agent on any website in two lines of HTML. Mobile SDKs, a JavaScript client, a command line tool and an MCP server cover apps, scripts and AI assistants.
Everything is managed from Platform > API & Webhooks, a page titled "API Management" with the tabs API Keys, Webhooks, n8n & Make, Logs and Docs. The full reference lives at https://docsb.neticsai.com.
Who it is for
Developers and technical teams who want NETICS to work with what they already run: an online shop that keeps its catalogue and orders in NETICS, a church site that signs members in, a finance or logistics team pushing records from its own system. See how it fits retail and e-commerce, churches and ministries and logistics and delivery.
How it works in NETICS
- Open API & Webhooks > API Keys and press Create key. Give it a name, tick its scopes, optionally list the addresses it may be used from, and choose when it expires. The full key is shown once; NETICS keeps only a hash.
- Call the API from your server with
Authorization: Bearer nk_.... The API is server to server only: browsers are refused by design. - On the Webhooks tab, press Add webhook, give an https address and pick the events you want. Copy the
whsec_signing secret, shown once, and check theX-Netics-Signatureheader on every delivery. - For a website, copy the snippet from the Install card in AI Studio. The agent ID is public, and the agent answers only on the website addresses you list for it.
- For the command line or an AI assistant, run
npx netics loginor add the MCP server withnpx -y @netics/mcp. A browser page asks an owner or admin to authorise the device, and its key appears in your API keys list, where you can revoke it at any time.
Key capabilities
- Keys you can lock down. Sixteen scopes, from "Ask the AI" to "Create and update orders". A key can be fenced to up to 20 IP addresses or ranges, given an expiry, rotated or revoked, and it is suspended on its own after 100 refusals in ten minutes, with a warning at 20. "Reinstate key" lifts a suspension.
- Answers from your knowledge.
POST /askreturns a grounded answer from your published Knowledge Base, and says when it refused for lack of evidence so you can hand over to a person. - Orders without double charges.
POST /ordersaccepts anIdempotency-Keyheader, so the same key returns the same order and two racing requests make one.POST /orders/{id}/checkoutreturns a payment link with areturn_urland acancel_urlon your own site. - Paid means paid. An integration can never set a payment state. Paid is set only by a verified payment, and your system hears it from the
order.payment_changedwebhook. See orders and payments. - Your catalogue as a product database. Read the whole catalogue, fetch a product by ID or slug, or push up to 2,000 products at once with
POST /products/sync. - Webhooks you can trust. 39 event types across conversations, calls, orders, bookings, customers, CRM contacts, forms, invoices, documents and more, signed with HMAC-SHA256. A failed delivery is tried five times in all (after 30 seconds, 2 minutes, 10 minutes and 1 hour), and the Recent deliveries list lets you view the exact payload and redeliver.
- n8n, Make and Zapier. The n8n & Make tab connects a tool's webhook in one step and offers starter workflows to download. Compare with built-in automations.
- Mobile SDKs. Flutter
netics_agentand React Nativenetics-agent-react-nativegive your app a ready-made chat with your agent, with human handover, product cards and history. - CLI, MCP server and JavaScript client.
netics,@netics/mcpand@netics/apiare on npm. The MCP server gives Claude, Cursor and other assistants tools for bookings, orders, customers, products, blog posts and collections, andverifyWebhookchecks signatures for you.
Plan availability
API & Webhooks is on Pay as you go (no monthly fee, pay from credits), Starter (NGN 50,000 a month), Growth and Enterprise, and on the 3-day free trial while it is live. If a workspace's plan lapses, the public API refuses calls and webhook deliveries pause until the plan is active again; the keys and settings stay.
The Database & Apps, member sign-in and attendance endpoints, used to run your own site or app on NETICS, need Growth or Enterprise. Hosting your own website on NETICS is part of Website Builder on Enterprise. See pricing.
Rate limits are the same on every plan: 120 requests per key per minute, within which 20 questions to POST /ask and 30 writes, plus 1,000 API answers per workspace per day. Over a limit, the API answers 429 with a Retry-After header.
What it does not do yet
There is no hosted MCP endpoint and no Python client; the MCP server runs on your own machine through npx. The Logs tab does not yet show per-request API logs. The mobile SDKs are text chat only: realtime voice is on the website widget.
Frequently asked questions
Which plan do I need for the API?
Pay as you go, Starter or above, or a live free trial. Creating keys, adding webhooks and calling the public API are all part of API & Webhooks, which Pay as you go and Starter include.
How do I know a webhook really came from NETICS?
Every delivery carries X-Netics-Signature with a timestamp and an HMAC-SHA256 of the raw body, keyed with your webhook's whsec_ secret. Check it with the Node or Python snippets in the docs, or with verifyWebhook from @netics/api.
Can my integration mark an order as paid?
No. Any attempt to set a payment state is refused. Ask NETICS for a payment link, send the customer to it, and wait for the order.payment_changed webhook, which fires only after the payment company confirms the money.
What happens if an API key leaks?
Revoke it on the API Keys tab and requests using it fail at once. Fencing keys to your server's addresses and setting an expiry limits the damage beforehand, and a key that keeps getting refused is suspended automatically and the workspace is told.
Does NETICS have an MCP server for AI assistants?
Yes. Add @netics/mcp to Claude, Cursor or another MCP client with npx. It signs in through your browser, holds no key in its configuration, and can be revoked like any other key.
