A jeweller sells the same hoops in gold and silver, small and large. The gold large costs more, the silver small is nearly sold out, and a customer who picks gold wants to see gold. Until today a product in NETICS had one price, one photo and one stock count for all of its choices. Now each choice can have its own.
Turn variants on
Open a product, list its choices under Choices customers make (for example colour: Gold, Silver and size: Small, Large), and switch on Each choice has its own price, stock, SKU or photo. NETICS lays out every combination in a grid:
- Photo: pick one of the product's photos for each variant.
- Price and Wholesale price.
- Stock: leave it empty if you do not count.
- SKU and Active.
Apply to all fills price, wholesale price or stock for every row at once. The product then shows "From" its cheapest variant, and its stock is the total.
Everything follows the variant
- Orders name the exact variant, for example "Hoop earrings (Gold, Large)", at its own price.
- Stock comes off that variant when the order is paid, and the product shows sold out only when every variant is.
- Inventory, purchasing and invoices pick the variant, so each colour and size is counted and bought on its own.
- Wholesale: "Wholesale from 6" counts all the colours together, so 2 gold and 4 silver get the wholesale price.
On your website
On a NETICS website, choosing a colour or size changes the photo, the price and the stock on the product page. A combination that is sold out says so and cannot be bought. Product grids show the product once, with its "From" price.
In the chat
NETICS's chat knows each variant. Asked "do you have the hoops in gold?", it says which colours and sizes are in stock, and before taking an order it asks which one the customer wants.
Bringing your catalogue in
Spreadsheets take one row per variant: repeat the product's name and add a column for each choice, named option:colour, option:size and so on. Shopify exports keep their variants as they are, with each variant's price, SKU and photo. The export from NETICS reads back in unchanged. Developers get each listing's variants from the products API.
