Once a sales team grows past a handful of people, two questions come up every month. Who brought this customer in? And what price did we finally agree? Until now NETICS left the first in someone's memory and the second in a chat thread. From 18 October both are on the record.
The change came from an Enterprise client whose staff had just started entering their customers in NETICS. It is useful to any business with more than one person selling, or more than one branch.
Who closed the deal
Open NETICS CRM > Customers and use Add customer or Edit customer. The form has two new fields:
- Registered under branch: one of the branches you set up under User Management > Branches, or No branch.
- Account officer: pick a staff member from Employees, or type any name. The box suggests your staff as you type, and a name that matches someone on Employees is linked to them.
Both show up where you work:
- The customer directory has a Branch ยท officer column.
- The customer's own page shows "Branch:" and "Account officer:" beside the other details.
- The CSV export from the directory carries the branch and the officer for every customer you export.
A few rules keep the record honest. Only your own business's branches and staff are accepted. API keys cannot set these fields, so a connected website or tool cannot reassign your customers. And the branch is a record, not a restriction: registering a customer under your Ikeja branch does not hide them from the Abuja team.
Why it matters
- Commission. Export the customers and sort by officer. Working out who earned what becomes a spreadsheet sort, not a hunt through chats.
- Follow-up. When an officer is on leave or leaves the business, you can see which customers were theirs and hand them over, instead of finding out when a customer complains.
- Branch accountability. A business with several outlets can see which branch registered each customer, even when the customer later buys elsewhere.
Discounts that reach the invoice
Negotiated prices are normal. The risk is that the agreed price lives in one place and the invoice says another. Orders, quotations and invoices now have the same Discount control with three choices:
- No discount.
- Amount: a money box in the record's currency. A figure larger than the items is capped at the items' total, and the hint says so.
- Percent: from 0 to 100. The discount follows the items, so adding a line grows it.
Under the control, a live box shows Subtotal, Discount, VAT where it applies, and Total as you type. Whichever mode you use, NETICS saves the discount as an amount.
How a discount flows through
- On an order (NETICS CRM > Orders, New order or Edit order), the total is the items less the discount. So when you press Collect payment or Create payment link, the customer is asked for the discounted amount.
- From the order to an invoice. Press Invoice on the order and the invoice in Finance carries the same discount, so the two totals match.
- On a quotation (My Enterprise > Quotations), the discount sits with the quotation's own VAT rate. When the customer accepts and you press Invoice, the invoice keeps both.
- On an invoice made directly in ERP Route > Finance > Invoices, VAT is charged on the amount after the discount.
When a discount can no longer change
A discount follows the same lock as the order's items. Once the order is paid, has an invoice raised from it, is finished or cancelled, or has a payment link out, the discount is shown but cannot be edited. If a payment link is already out, NETICS tells you to cancel the order and create a new one, so a customer is never charged for a total that changed after they were sent the link.
Who can give a discount
Only your team, in the console. An order placed from your website, through the public API or by NETICS on a customer chat cannot carry a discount. A customer cannot talk your NETICS agent into a lower price, and nothing outside your team can lower an order total.
Inside the team, creating and editing orders is an admin job by default. If you run your workspace on custom roles, Roles & access decides who may do it.
